WOULD YOU KNOW HOW TO HELP?

We all have mental health, just as we all have physical health. Poor Mental Health can strike any time and affect people from all walks of life and backgrounds.

Although things are improving, stigma still exists, and as a society we don't tend to know how to take care of our mental health like we do our physical health.

We can learn to make a positive difference to those around us, whether at home, at work... or a stranger.

You can be the difference in someone's life, and even possibly save someone's life.

MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS

1 in 4 people experience mental health issues each year (1)

792 million people are affected by mental health issues worldwide (2)

At any given time, 1 in 6 working-age adults have symptoms associated with mental ill health (3)

Mental ill health is responsible for 72 million working days lost and costs £34.9 billion each year (4) Note: Different studies will estimate the cost of mental ill health in different ways. Other reputable research estimates this cost to be as high as £74–£99 billion (5)

The total cost of mental ill health in England is estimated at £105 billion per year (1)

70-75% of people with diagnosable mental illness receive no treatment at all (6,7,11)

BECOME A MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AIDER

Mental Health First Aid training teaches people how to identify, understand and help support someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training doesn't teach you to be a therapist, anymore than physical first aid training teaches you to become a paramedic or a doctor. However, much like a physical first aider, it will teach you how to respond to those around you who may need help when a professional isn't readily available, or if an emergency situation arises.

You’ll learn what mental health is, understand poor mental health, and recognise the warning signs of mental ill health, developing the skills and confidence to approach, support someone and keep yourself safe.

You’ll learn how to empower someone to access the support they need and be able to signpost to professional and other supports; such as a GP, a therapist, trusted resources, charitable organisations,  groups,  community support, and self-help.  â€‹

What’s more, you’ll gain access to the new Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider) App, 3 years of SHOUT support and webinars throughout the year to add to your knowledge, and free membership to the Association of Mental Health First Aiders.

Rejuvenate are pleased to now also be delivering the FAA (OFQUAL) Awards Level 1 - 3 in First Aid for Mental Health (RQF), and the FAA Awards Level 4 - 6 (SCQF).

Not forgetting the importance of our young learners with the introduction of both physical and mental health first aid through the Mini Medic courses from NUCO.

CLASSROOM
FEEDBACK

Karen was amazing, the course was very informative, engaging and also for a heavy subject Karen made the course light hearted where she could, with elements of fun and drawing. The whole class got involved and overall she was just an amazing and inspiring teacher and woman. I would recommend Karen to anyone wanting to learn about this subject and gain the MHFAider certification. Karen was also very supportive and checked on our wellbeing at all times which was also very reassuring.

Amazing course. Really informative and helpful  for myself and people I will come in contact in my life. Karen was an amazing leader and Gary with his support. I highly recommend both of them when undertaking the MHFAider course. Thank you.

ONLINE
FEEDBACK

I was very excited to be taking part in this course, though a little apprehensive learning via online as opposed to a classroom and being able to interact with other learners. That apprehension disappeared not long after I first joined the zoom training session. Karen was very welcoming, and I immediately felt in a safe space to  contribute to group discussions and share my thoughts.

Karen & Gary was very supportive throughout the course, their fun, humorous and approachable personalities brought everyone together especially after discussing some of the tougher topics within mental health. Their knowledge and experience shined throughout the course, and I feel confident and ready to be able to offer Mental Health support to my colleagues, friends, and strangers. Thank you for a great two days of learning, that will make a positive impact on many people’s lives. I am very proud to be a Mental Health First Aider :)

ONLINE
FEEDBACK

This was a fantastic refresher course. I had take the original course a couple of years ago, and have come across new scenarios, which I had not thought about during the first training session. I also have a new role, which means I am in a lot more direct contact with colleagues of all levels across the business. This refresher allowed me to think about how the new skills could be implemented in my daily interactions, and has been fantastic to remember some of the ways in which we can help. Thank you

I did the adult refresh online and found the course highly relevant and well delivered. Karen  was engaging, interesting and kept a good pace. The content was informative and a brilliant refresher course. Highly recommend and I will be using Karen again

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AIDER - LEARNER FEEDBACK

I found this course extremely interesting and helpful. Both Instructors were great and dealt with very sensitive subjects excellently. They constantly checked in with us ensuring that we weren't feeling overwhelmed or upset which created a very safe environment in which I felt comfortable and encouraged. I would like to add, that three hours after completing the course, I had a situation where it was necessary to use the skills I had just learned. I managed to remain calm and focussed. I could feel that my calm and reassuring demeanour and words were helping the person to ground themselves. I know that I would not have dealt with that situation as successfully as I did without the knowledge and experience I had gained in the last two days. Thank you!!!

Rejuvenate

Mental Health®

Rejuvenate Mental Health® was established in 2020 by founder Karen Bickmore, who has delivered physical and mental health first aid workplace training to thousands of people for nearly 10 years.

Karen is an experienced trainer, starting her career in 2015 with St John Ambulance, delivering the full suite of First Aid at Work and MHFA England courses. When the pandemic hit and redundancies occurred, Karen took the opportunity of redundancy and used her experience, knowledge and passion in mental health to create Rejuvenate Mental Health in 2020.

In 2023, Karen extended an invitation to her brother Gary to join Rejuvenate and combine his business knowledge, people skills, first aid experience, and  interest in mental health to embark on becoming the first trainer to join her business. Whilst working his existing job full time, Gary completed the MHFA England Instructor training, joining the business on a part-time basis to complete the mentoring programme with Karen, and in 2024 joins the business full time.

Both Karen and Gary are Mental Health First Aiders, DBS checked, hold insurance, have lived experience of mental ill health and recovery, and are accredited MHFA England Instructor Members, meeting the quality standards needed to be Mental Health First Aid Instructors,  successfully completing the only licensed MHFA Instructor training programme in England, accredited by the Royal Society  for Public Health.
